International White-cane day was celebrated in Netrakona district of Bangladesh on 15 October 2012. Different programs were jointly arranged by the office of the Deputy Commissioner and district Social Welfare Department, Netrakona with the assistance of Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS), Polli Dristihin Unnayan organization, Polli Probondhi Unnayan organization. The slogan of that day was “White-cane is the light of eyesight disable”. A seminar was initiated at the hall room of social welfare department on above-mentioned subject after a colorful rally through out the town. Mr. Anish Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona and Mr. Rahish Uddin, Deputy Director (DD) of Social welfare department, Netrakona delivered their speeches on the occasion. Shilpi Biswas, coordinator of SUS described about White-cane day and eyesight disability. Mr. Anwarul Haq, upazila social welfare officer, Netrakona, Ziaur Rahman-district disability officer, Golam Mostafa-Secretary, Sweed-Bangladesh, Kohinoor Begum-Manager (SUS), Golam Rabbani-executive director of Palli Dristihin Unnayan organization attended the program as special guests.
