Joly
akter, she is from shaylapara village, of Noupara Union, Kendua upazilla,
Netrakona Zilla. She got married with Rokon miah from the same village
when she studying in class 8. As she was very young and had no idea about
household life, she had to endure physical torture by her in laws. In
the mean time she became the mother of two children.
Joly
akter was elected Secretary of nari mourcha group shaylapara shaylapara
village. This group is a part of the Access project of sabalamby
unnoyon samity, which has been formed to achieve the goal of developing
womens participation in social, economical and political sectors. After
words she was selected as a representative of Nari Mourcha group to
attend jono mourcha meeting. She cought the attention of UP chairman
through her activities and was included as an UDS committee member. Joly
akter became more enthusiastic day by day through her works in nari
mourcha group. She and her Fellow members held different issue based and
right based discussions. Joly had movement to health complex, union
parishad for different services for her on other women in need. She is
always helpful and tries to defend any violence against women, early
marriage and sexual harassment by family conflicts. She developed the
courage of getting accustomed to outside world. At one point, Joly
decided that she will participate in the coming local government
election of Union Parishod (UP) as member. (Her family did not approve
her for these kinds of activities; she faced many difficulties in order
to achieve her goal.) She always keeps herself steady to fight against
any kinds of problems and tries to solve them as far as she can. This
was her journey. Joly akter won local government election as a member
with crane symbol on 23 April 2016 by achieving huge vote.
Future plan:
Future plan is to continue her social work and work against early
marriage, women violence,sexual violence. She will always stand firmly
to establish women rights. She wants to successfully serve these five
years and intends to complete in the upcoming government election for
Chairman.
