Meeting on Formation of Rokeya Fellow

On 25 March 2014, a meeting on forming Rokeya Fellow was arranged at Kendua office by the presence of Begum Rokeya, executive director, Showpoun Kumar Paul, director (Program), Murshed Iqbal Rimu, APD, Kohinoor Begum Manager (R&G) and Luthfor Rahamn, Training and Monitoring Officer of SUS. Murshed Iqbal Rimu, APD, SUS was the moderator of the meeting. 14 women of Kendua area attended the meeting. A handout on the importance of forming Rokeya Fellow was distributed among the participants. Kohinoor Begum discussed what is Rokeya Fellow, necessity to form and what types of activities the fellow will perform in future. The director (Program) threw questions that how much you know about Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain? Many of them said that she was the pioneer of freedom for Muslim women. She worked for establishing women rights. All the participants have made a commitment to work together for establishing women rights and freedom of women. At last, Begum Rokeya, executive director of SUS participated in the discussion. She believes that the women of Kendua will work by keeping the principles and ideology of Begum Rokeya. She told that it is not necessary to form Rokeya Fellow today. We have provided a handout to you and you will read this thoroughly and if you think; it necessary to form then you can form Rokeya Fellow in the next meeting. She ended the meeting by giving thanks to all.
