Five Years Strategy Planning Meeting of SUPRO District Committee

Campaign for Good Governance-SUPRO Netrakona District Committee has planned to prepare their “5-Years (2014-2018) Strategy Plan” with a view to increase relationship among the members and review of implemented activities. As per the part of the Stretegy plan, a meeting was held at SUS head office on draft planning on 16 March 2014 at 3.00 pm. Professor Motindra Sarker, president of SUPRO Netrakona District Committee presided over the meeting. Murshed Iqbal Rimu, Assistant Program Director (APD) presented the draft 5-years strategy plan. Afterward, Begum Rokeya, general secretary, SUPRO Netrakona District Committee and Executive Director of SUS, Showpoun Kumar Paul, Director (Program) of SUS, Jubeda Akter Khatun, vice-president, SUPRO Netrakona District Committee, development worker Ali Amjad Khan, Jahangir Alam Sobuj and Neelom Biswas Ratul, Assistant secretary, SUPRO Netrakona District Committee participated in the discussion session on draft planning and offered their valuable opinions. Vision, mission, objectives, activities and expected results were discussed elaborately. The basic issues of the discussion were poverty reduction, preparation of district budget and role of SUPRO. SUPRO Netrakona District Committee provided following recommendations by reviewing the education situation of Netrakona district and opinions of draft strategy plan.

Poverty Reduction

·         Discuss on budget with all sorts of professionals, farmers and marginal people.

·         Prepare a shadow budget (3 years) for Netrakona district.

·    Work and advocacy at regular basis for next 3 years for presenting district wary government budget on agriculture, education and health.

·       Work for introducing each of the districts where SUPRO is working into budget through SUPRO secretariat.

·        As per demand of SUPRO Netrakona District Committee, budget will be prepared with the participation of grass-root level people for one union and one municipality as ‘model’ and will be sent to district and national levels.

·         Different workshops of SUPRO will be arranged by including local MPs and ministers and making advocacy for implementing the recommendations at policy level.  

·         Work for implementing fair and equitable budget.

·         Provide work plan from secretariat for implementing district-wise activities regularly.

·         Take activities by SUPRO on climate change by considering changeable situation of the country.

·         Take district-wise activities by SUPRO on agriculture, education and health system of Haor region.

Tax Justice

·    Arrange training session on tax for increasing awareness of the members of SUPRO Netrakona District Committee.

·         Collect information of those people who pay their taxes regularly (Office/business/individual level).

·         Arrange courtyard/community meeting for increasing interest of mass people for paying tax.

·         Arrange workshop on Value Added Tax (VAT) and tax with the members of district committee and community people.

·         Collect and reviw the current policies so that the people may pay their tax easily.

·         A special team will be formed to find and analyse out the laps and gaps of VAT and will be informed by arranging workshop.  

·         Arrange discussion meeting, debate and workshop on VAT and tax with participation of teachers and students.

·         Arrange public dialogue on VAT and tax related activities with different professionals at union level and install billboard at different important places.

Education

·         Work on ensuring quality education by SUPRO.

·         Arrange advocacy meeting on one-way education by identifying irregularities of education policy and process.

·         Work with newly governmentalization school teachers for ensuring quality of primary education.

SUPRO started its work in 46 districts with 600 NGOs in 2001 with a view to establish a country with democracy, transparency, accountability, rights, economical justice and good governance as well as to reform the existing political system of the country by the name of “Campaign for political reformation” by increasing the capacities of grass-root level civil society and mass people. We expect that SUPRO will emphasis on opinions and situation of marginal people for peparing its 5-years strategy plan.
