Nilufa wants to survive with new hope

Nilufa Akter born in a poor family of Gawkandia village under Durgapur upazila of Netrakona district. Her father is late Mofiz Mian and mother is late Halema Begum. She lost her parents in her boyhood and brought up in her uncle’s house with her grandfather and mother of mothers site. They are also poor and they cannot effort to take three times meal. Because of poverty she took a job in a garment in Dhaka. At that time she introduced with Emdadul Haq son of Hazrat Ali and Kulsuma of Naterkona village of Jaria uninon of Purbadhola upazial under Netrakona district. Day by day they became intimate and they got married. Starting time of their conjugal life is so nice. After passing one year Emdadul bring her in their village. Day after day they have passed four years and they got two lovely boy children in their family. After passing one year of second child Emdadul became changed and he misbehaved with her very often without any reason. He demanded dowry to her. She knows that her grandfather and mother are not capable to fulfill the demand of Emdadul that’s why she remain silent and tolerating the torturing to her. On the other hand she was afraid of her children’s future. But the level of torturing has been increasing day by day. She backs her grandfather’s house by finding no way. During that time Emdadul fall into temptation and he was living with transgender Mdhobi.

Nilufa was living in her grandfathers house with hope that her husband will come to bring back her but it was her nightmare. There is no news from Emdadul. At one point Nilufa call him by phone that she wants to back home. Emdadul replied her if she give him 1 lack Taka then he will bring her in his house. Otherwise he is not interested to continue their conjugal life. He informed her that Madobi provide him 500 taka each day so he will stay with Madobi. There is no other way forward of Nilufa, She went to the Chairman of union council. Chairman took initiative several times to solve the problem by arbitration but Emdadul did not come.

Union council chairman suggested Nilufa to communicate with the member of Union Human Rights Council. Union Human Rights Council took initiative to solve the problem by arranging arbitration again. But Emdadul did not present as before. Union Human Rights Council knows about the activity of PESEAJ project Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS). They want to legal support through government legal aid fund. After receiving complaint PESEAJ project of SUS is taking prompt initiative. By the assistance of PESEAJ project Nilufa submitted a case in Durgapur upazila Chowki Adalot against Emdaul of dower and maintenance under government legal aid fund on 12 Jamuary 2016. At present the case is running. A warrant has been issued against Emdadul. At present Nilufa is living in her grandfather’s house with her uncle and grandparent’s. She is hoping that she will get justice. Now she becomes confident that she will continue the case of justice by the assistance of government legal aid fund. Now she is very much confident to look forward for self depended. She is very much thankful to SUS operated project and also the government legal aid fund.
